World Peace Initiatives

February 6th, 2009

People all over the world are beginning to wake up to the fact that they must take responsibility for the state of the world and that if they want to live in a more peaceful world, they will have to do something. World Peace Initiatives are being started by all kinds of people. World Peace Initiatives are being begun by women’s groups. World Peace Initiatives are started by Nobel Laureates. World Peace Initiatives are being started by average citizens. World Peace Initiatives are being started by average citizens.

World Peace Initiatives are being started by people in just about every country in the world. World Peace Initiatives are being started by philanthropists with huge amounts of money to spend. World Peace Initiatives are being started by children with just a few pennies. World Peace Initiatives are being started by organizations, foundations and centers all over the world. Many of the World Peace Initiatives realize that peace goes hand in hand with democracy, and respect for human rights. There can be no peace if basic human needs aren’t met and these World Peace Initiatives realized this. World Peace Initiatives are working with local populations all over the world to improve education and living conditions as well as helping to protect these peoples from political repression.

A lot of World Peace Initiatives are concentrating on conflict resolution strategies. These World Peace Initiatives are on the ground in areas where there are conflicts trying to help people learn new win-win strategies for resolving their differences. These World Peace Initiatives believe that by helping people learn a non-advesarial approach to resolving conflicts that the major issue of the world will be able to be better addressed. These World Peace Initiatives believe that when people learn to better cooperate, that everyone wins and the world becomes a more peaceful place. There are many internet based World Peace Initiatives. These World Peace Initiatives strive to help people better understand each other. These World Peace Initiatives believe that through communication and education, people can learn to be more tolerant of each other. These World Peace Initiatives on the internet seek to create social networks among far flung people so that they can help each other.

These World Peace Initiatives cross all boarders and nationalities and allow people to connect one on one. These World Peace Initiatives believe that by fostering understanding among people of different cultures and backgrounds that world peace becomes more achievable. World Peace Initiatives are our great hope for a more peaceful world. And the great thing about World Peace Initiatives in this day and age is that almost anyone can start a World Peace Initiatives.

Promote Peace

January 29th, 2009

Promote Peace. Few people would argue with he sentiment that we should promote peace. The world would be a much better place if we all were to honestly and wholeheartedly promote peace. But do we have the will to truly promote peace? How do we promote peace? We can promote peace by working for justice in this world. It is easy to throw up your hands and say sorry, but it’s a raw deal planet so what can you do? It is a lot harder to truly promote peace by addressing the wrongs and injustices in the world. It is scary and often dangerous to do so. But if we do not work for justice, we cannot promote peace.

We can stop certain armed conflicts by force. We can use might to crush a rebellious population. We can use superior strength to quell a rebellion. But for how long? If there is no justice, we cannot promote peace. But justice is a difficult thing to grasp. How do we sort out the real injustices from the perceived injustices? And of course, there are always groups and governments just waiting to grab what they can under the guise of their efforts to promote peace. So how do we truly promote peace? Is there anything that the average citizen can do to promote peace?

Our efforts to promote peace must begin in our hearts and souls. If we don not promote peace with ourselves, we will not be able to promote peace in the world. but how do we promote peace within ourselves? We promote peace within ourselves by practicing radical self acceptance. We promote peace within ourselves by ending the war with ourselves. We promote peace within ourselves by ending the war with ourselves. We promote peace with ourselves by learning to love ourselves whole heartedly without reservation, just the way we are. We promote peace within ourselves by cutting  ourselves a break and realizing that we are just flawed people just like everybody else. We promote peace within by accepting that we are not perfect and never will be. We promote peace within by realizing that we do not live in a perfect world.

In fact, in a perfect world, we would not be welcome. So we promote peace within by allowing ourselves to love ourselves regardless of our faults and past misdeeds. Only then can we begin to promote peace, real peace in the world at large. To promote peace in the world is a tall order. To promote peace within ourselves may be an even bigger challenge. But if we want to promote peace without, we must promote peace within

Build Peace

January 21st, 2009

Everyone talks about how we must build peace.  But how do you build peace?  Does peace even need to be built, or does peace grow?  What do people have in mind when they say we must build peace?  Can peace be constructed as if it were a building?  Can you build peace out of bricks and mortar?  No.  But you can build peace.

You must build peace step by step according to a well thought out plan.  You can build peace if you are conscientious workers.  You can build peace if you use the right materials.  You can build peace if you follow the plan.  You can build peace if you do as the great architects do and get everyone’s input and take time developing a proper blueprint.  You can build peace if you have the will to do so.  You must have the political will to build peace.  You must have the moral will to build peace.  It takes time to build peace.  It takes great effort to build peace.  It takes a sacrifice to build peace.  But you can build peace.

As a race we can build peace worldwide.  As regions we can build peace in our hemispheres.  As countries we can build peace in our lands.  As states we can build peace in our boundaries.  As cities we can build peace in our neighborhoods.  As citizens we can build peace in our own backyards.  As families we can build peace in our homes.  And as people we can build peace in our hearts and souls.

But do we have the will necessary to build peace?  Are we ready to make the sacrifices to build peace?  Are we ready to give up some of what we’s ve got build peace?  Are we willing to get off our high horses to build peace?  People will never have the necessary will to build peace until they build peace with themselves.  We do too much violence to ourselves every day to ever  really build peace.  We need so much because we are so violent with ourselves.  We think that more stuff will make us happy but it won’t.  We can’t even begin to think about building peace in the world because we are too busy with the futile attempt to make ourselves feel better by getting more and more.  We cannot build peace as long as so many people think that they must have so much more than others.

International Peace

January 13th, 2009

What is international peace and why is international peace something people are looking for?  International peace, I guess, literally means peace between nations.  International peace would be a good thing. I suppose this is why people are looking for it.  But is it really achievable? Can there ever be total peace between all nations?  I don’t think so.

The elusiveness of international peace is summed up right there in the name international peace.  Peace between nations.  It is the nation’s government that  makes peace impossible.  We can have international quiet for a while but never international peace. As long as there is an us and a them, there will be no international peace.  As long as there are nations with boundaries there will be no international peace.  As long as there is “this is ours” and “that is yours” there will be no lasting international peace.

The impossibility of international peace is right there in the words international peace.  But can it be any other way?  It seems that there have always been nations upon this earth.  Maybe first warring tribes, then set boundaries as nations. There was no international peace as tribes and nation states battled for land and resources.  The aggression was out in the open.  There was no need to court public opinion.  It didn’t matter what other people or other nations thought of you as long as you were winning.  There was no desire for international peace.  With international peace there would be no expansion.  International peace would stand in the way of grabbing resources.  And as long as the lack of international peace wasn’t too threatening to everyone’s survival and as long as there was land to be had and resources to be plundered, why would nations want international peace? They might want peace among a chosen few.  They might want peace with a nation that was a serious threat to them, but it would just be an impediment.

There was no need for international peace until the lack of international peace was a threat to everyone’s survival.  There was no desire for international peace until the world was a sufficiently small place so that there was no possibility of taking more land and outright stealing more resources.  There was no desire for international peace until the whole world could watch and see what other nations were doing that they could condemn, and maybe even band together and stop what they were doing.

So now the bigger more developed nations want international peace.  They want international peace because they have gotten all that they can safely get through war and now they want international peace.  There are only the small scraps left to fight over, so they take the moral high ground now and push for international peace.
